Mzoli’s is one of those rare occasions when one can rip chunks of meat apart with your bare hands, feast and get your groove on. Mzoli’s is more house music and a sexy crowd than camp fire and, as its more like a twenty minute drive from Cape Town than out in the tribal wilderness, nether you or I have any excuse not to go

Mzoli’s is not a posh restaurant by any stretch of the imagination, its rustic, tasty and a real township experience. Food or meat is ordered basically on the meat counter and choose whichever kind of meat u are preferring to choose and u give the amount of meat that you want to buy. After choosing the meat is basically not cooked so u need to go to the grillers where the meat is going to be marinated and grilled with their special, lovely sauces that one chooses. When I went there before ordering our feast, we visited a nearby shop to buy alcohol beverages, ice cubes, and white bread roll as they don’t sell any alcoholic beverages at Mzoli’s but you are allowed to get in with them.

I was with friends there and we ordered R200 meat and it is value for money because you get big portions of variety of meats which was pork, sausages, and chicken wings. Price ranges depend on what and how much a person is ordering, because the meat is weighed on a particular amount of money said by the customer. We had only R500 in our pockets and we were 6 but we could be able to buy meat and alcohol and those were sufficient enough. We sat sipping cold beers in the sunshine and indulged in conversation and a DJ was playing deep and commercial house music. The meat tasted fresh, juicy, well flavoured, and succulent and was well seasoned. The staff treats customers with respect, they are very fast and friendly people who always smiles to different faces and they regularly come to check whether customers are well served and satisfied as they did with me.

Mzoli’s is a large, covered canteen with plastic tables and chairs. Established early in 2003. The owner Mzoli Ngcawuzele obtained start-up funding from the Development Bank of SA which supports black owned businesses. Economic study said Mzoli had moved, selling meat informally from a garage, to owning one of the most popular hangouts in Cape Town. Mzoli’s attracted and has been visited by most television stars, Dj’s such as Oskido, presenters such as Bonang Matheba and politicians such as Tony Yengeni, business people, tourist, and college/university students.

All I could say that Mzoli’s is a place to go and to be, there enough sparking space lots of vibrant people are there. Anyone should go there the atmosphere and view is nice and enjoyable
